The Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center is located on the third floor in Adams Hall, adjacent to the Holmes Student Center on Normal Road. The Center has two, small laboratory facilities where faculty can experiment with various instructional technologies for academic purposes.

The Center has an 11-station Collaboratory and a 4-station Digital Multimedia Studio which faculty can use during working hours. Center staff also use these facilities to offer hands-on training sessions or consultations for faculty. For more information about using these laboratory facilities, contact the Center office.
The Collaboratory has 11 Windows-based workstations with various general-purpose software, a laser printer and scanners. The room features a projection system for workshops and demonstrations.

Adjacent to the Collaboratory is the Teaching Resource Room, with TV/video facilities for running faculty videos. We can offer instruction in the different teaching software in the Collaboratory as well as some basic guidance in online teaching and learning in both the lab and the Teaching Resource Room.

The multimedia lab is a place where faculty can create their own multimedia materials such as video/audio capture, edit, and conversion to a number of formats capable of using in a variety of technologies including video/audio streaming, podcasting, or on iPods, or CD/DVD players. Faculty can also use available software to create Flash-based interactive computer based training modules. The multimedia studio has four PC-based workstations and one Macintosh desktop computer that are available for Faculty to experiment with multimedia content and develop instructional materials.
